Bold henna pattern for the palms. Quick & easy.

bold henna pattern for palms of handsYou can drive with henna palms! If you choose a bold pattern like this one it's very easy.

You will notice that the left hand is full of henna.. but just has design going half way up the fingers & little spots to finish.

The right hand design compliments the left.. leaving plenty of free space for the little household tasks that might make full palms & fingers pattern too difficult to fit into your modern lifestyle.

From start to finish, this tattoo took 35 minute to complete.

Using bold lines & negative space to compliment the shape of the hand give a striking pattern that is easy to wear.

This is an original free hand henna tattoo by Ann George of Spirit Vision Henna, Jacksonville, Florida.

Fine Art Photo? Can you find the henna tattoo?

full palm henna tattoo traditional patternI am so happy to have been able to do this full hand henna pattern.

An "original" free hand design, the use of negative space makes a lovely pattern.

Can you find the henna in this photo?

I really like the mehandi against this fabric. I am sure there is another foto coming soon.. but as I have yet to see it, I share this image with you in hopes that you will find is as much fun as I do.

Wishing you warm nights.

Namaste,

Ann George

Winter Time Henna Fun - Henna Parties for the Holidays

Here is a photo of a full palm henna tattoo I did at a get together. I am always happy to have true patrons of traditional henna as they give me the chance to stay in practice with free hand/traditional & fine line henna.

Winter can be a very good time to have a henna party because the house is toasty warm, most people are in sweaters, woolies, and long sleeves, so the body temperature is up! These conditions are excellent to help the henna paste give the darkest possible stain.

Also.. with all other body parts covered, I have a chance to do full palm henna tattoo. I will post some new photos from friends having henna in India soon. Be sure to stop by the henna bookstore to get the latest pattern booklets from India.

Namaste.

Henna Pattern - Peacock Tattoo with Flowers

henna tattoo peacock pattern for the palmHere is a photo of a full palm henna tattoo. This design was done using the "draw the outlines first" method which has really improved my finished designs.

Visit the henna videos category on this site to see one of the best "how to" videos online. I started the pattern at the wrist, drew the outlines for the peacock & the bracelet at the wrist, then moved to draw the outlines for the encircled flower pattern at the base of the hand. I went back to fill in the details of the peacock & bracelet before moving to fill the hand. After finishing that portion of the pattern I drew outlines for the flower pattern that runs up the pinky & ring finger, then the little paisley and the flower at the base of the thumb.

After filling in all those areas, it was time to finish off the fingers. I used bold strokes to finish, hoping that the use of negative space would create the little glove effect as well as enhance the complexity of the palm pattern. If you like this pattern, you may enjoy a visit to the Henna Patterns page on my site. There are lots of little booklets from India on sale.. filled with inspiring images.

I intent to be back to work at the MIdnight Sun this weekend. Perhaps I will see you there?

Bridal Henna for the Palm - A 35 Minute Design

bridal henna tattoo palm tattoo

Here is a photo of a traditional henna tattoo for the palm. The design is a synthesis of traditional India henna style and a touch of the bold Arabic fashion.

After viewing the work of many fine artists, and benefiting from some videos, I made a thinner paste than usual and used a mylar cone to create this tattoo.

With a thin paste (almost like tempra paint texture) and a very fine tip on the cone, I was able to do more intricate mehandi much faster than ever before.

I started at the top most portion of the wrist, marked out the primary design areas first, then filled those in with finer lines.

I followed the same process for the hand... which is how I achieved the reverse image paisley on the palm.

The dark centers of the flowers that surround the paisley help set it off. Each finger is different, which gives a spontaneous look to my eye. I will post the foot tattoo pattern tomorrow.

It's 44 degrees on Wednesday Morning!

original henna tattoo palm of hand

Oooops! This is not henna weather. Looking ahead on the five day forecast, we are supposed to have warmer temperatures by Saturday. I am hoping so.

I am ready with a heat lamp to make some fresh henna paste for the weekend, but clients always get the best color on their finished hennas when it's HOT outside.

Henna is a heat activated skin dye & the color develops over a 48 hour period. The hotter the skin gets, the darker the stain. Some of last Saturday's clients went home to blow dry their henna tattoos.. and this always helps me get better color as I am cold natured anyway.

Check back for updates on our henna Saturday at The Midnight Sun.

How wonderful to Henna Twins!

I had a wonderful time at Midnight Sun today, and met many wonderful people. I wish I could have taken photos of all the henna, but I was busy.. and we are all happy.

I did maange to take this photo of sisters, who were twins and chose similar, almost identical tattoos. Ok. They chose the same basic design, but henna has a way of negotiating with a human canvas. Here are the results.

I will not be working on Saturday, September first, but will be back on the 8th. See you soon.

Henna Palm Tattoo - 2007 Jamila Color

I love red henna. It's my favorite color. I know many people love the super dark, almost black/red henna, but I love the ruby red.

Here is a color sample of the 2007 harvest of Jamila henna. The paste stains very quickly, which is great for festivals, but it also gives this lovely color.

Please forgive the pattern. It is not my best work (I was trying a new style a little later in the evening than I usually do) but I had to see the color.

This is color only 12 hours after the paste was removed! More photos coming soon.

Sometimes you just have to practice!

Well, I am sure it's just silly to post a photo of my first attempt at left handed henna, but here it is.

What is interesting to me is that the henna paste I used to do my right hand was 24 hours older than the henna I used to do my left hand. I mention this because it seems as if the color on my right hand is a bit darker than the left.

Further, the henna on my left hand had been on the skin for 72 hours, while the henna on the right had been on only 48. So.. the henna on the left hand should be darker?

Of course I also realized that I can't take a good photo of both my palms with my camera phone.. so thanks Chels for the photo shoot.

Excellent red color by Jamila henna of course! (the 2006 harvest no less)

Full Palms Henna - traditional henna tattoo!

Here is a new sample of traditional henna tattoo. Designs on the palms of the hands always yield the deepest color. (This is a photo of the paste still on the skin.)

Spirit Vision Henna thanks our hostess for the opportunity to do tradtional mehandi - and a bit of gilding - at her wonderful party. The pattern is original, but based on traditional componenets. I call it "Chef's Choice" henna. This means you tell me what you like (floral, tribal, African, Indian, geometric) and I create design to suite your style, your budget.. and of course your body.

Fine Line Henna Palms at BLU - Jacksonville Tattoo

I am so happy to have just received my first shipment of Jamila Henna. This is fresh, fresh henna from the June harvest.. and so finely ground that I just open the box.. and mix the powder right up.
This very finely ground henna makes the most remarkably smooth paste making it easy to quickly accomplish designs that would take longer with a paste of variable consistancy.
Look at this photo of a traditional Indian pattern.. note the fine criss cross lines on the fingers. This tattoo was done using the traditional henna cone, not a squeeze bottle or a cone with a special metal tip.
Click the title of this post to go to the henna powder page on my website. The shopping carts for Jamila powder are finally on line!
